Two San Diego Dining Destinations Make OpenTable's List Of Top 100 Restaurants In America

Online restaurant-reservation service company OpenTable analyzed more than 12 million reviews of bars & restaurants across the country to come up with its list of the top 100 restaurants in America for 2023, and two San Diego spots are included.
OpenTable, the world's leading provider of online restaurant reservations, has released its list of the 100 Best Restaurants in America for 2023. In selecting the standout restaurants, OpenTable meticulously weighed various factors: from the diners' individual ratings and the frequency of advance reservations to the coveted five-star reviews. These metrics underwent rigorous evaluation against OpenTable's internal dining benchmarks, ultimately culminating in a distinguished selection process.

OpenTable’s Top 100 Restaurants for 2023 includes two standout San Diego restaurants, Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad and Youngblood "speakeasy within a speakeasy" in downtown's East Village.

Opened in late 2018, Jeune Et Joie is a contemporary French-style bistro founded by owner John Resnick and his longtime friend and then-Executive Chef Andrew Bachelier, who initially teamed up to launch woodfire-based restaurant Campfire in 2016. Located only 400 feet up the street from Campfire, Jeune Et Jolie, which means "young and beautiful" in French and also pays homage to Resnick and Bachelier's daughters' middle names (Elsie June Resnick and Margot Jolie Bachelier), offers a seasonal French-fusion menu based around locally grown ingredients, as well as a raw bar with a focus on oysters.

Jeune et Jolie was awarded a highly coveted Bib Gourmand honoration in the 2019 Michelin Guide California and received esteemed Michelin Star honors in fall 2021 under the leadership of its current Executive Chef Eric Bost. Chef Bachelier left the company in 2021 and since teamed up with skateboard icon Tony Hawk to launch Chick & Hawk, a globally-inspired, locally-sourced, neighborhood restaurant & bar opening next year in San Diego's Encinitas.

San Diego's Consortium Holdings hospitality group opened Youngblood in spring 2021 as part of the two year refresh of East Village's Neighborhood bar & restaurant. Young Blood is a speakeasy concept sited behind another speakeasy, Noble Experiment. The bar offers an "immersive", cocktail experience with multiple seatings per shift. Earlier this year, the World’s 50 Best organization announced North America's 50 Best Bars of 2023 and Youngblood secured the #49 spot on list.
