The team behind Carlsbad's hit wood-fired restaurant, Campfire, are gearing up to open a second eatery just right up the street from their first. Jeune Et Jolie will be a 2,034 square-foot, modern French bistro with global influences, anticipated to open later this year.
From owner John Resnick and his longtime friend and Executive Chef Andrew Bachelier, who opened hit woodfire-based restaurant Campfire in 2016, Jeune Et Joie will be a contemporary French-style bisto designed by Los Angeles-based design firm Bells & Whistles (Campfire, Bracero, Starlite). Located only 400 feet up the street from Campfire, Jeune Et Jolie, which means "young and beautiful" in French and also pays homage to Resnick and Bachelier's daughters' middle names (Elsie June Resnick and Margot Jolie Bachelier), the eatery will offer a seasonal French-fusion menu based around locally grown ingredients, as well as a raw bar with a focus on oysters. There will also be a menu section with dishes from French colonies, like the Caribbean, Vietnam and Africa. Behing the bar, manager Leigh Lacap will design a program centered around classic French spirits, such as absinthe, armagnac, and cognac, as well as offer a curated selection of natural, organic wines. The 80-seat bistro hopes to open by this Fall.
