Pour-Your-Own Beer Bar Barrel Republic Targets Downtown Escondido For 4th Location

June 15, 2018

Moving into a 4,000 square-foot space in the heart of downtown Escondido is the 4th San Diego location of Barrel Republic, a pour-your-own beer bar and California-style restaurant.

Founded by San Diego Sockers co-owner David Pike in 2013 with the opening of the first location in Pacific Beach, Barrel Republic embraces pour-your-own beer technology to offer a rotating tap list accessible by a credit-card-linked-bracelet that patrons obtain when they enter the business. The "freedom to pour" concept allows customers to pay by the ounce so that they can drink as much or as little as they want of various beers. With the opening of the second location in Oceanside in 2015, Barrel Republic added a scratch-made, California gastropub-style menu from Executive Chef Michael Brown. In 2016, the third location of Barrel Republic opened in Carlsbad, also with a full food menu.

Barrel Republic will replicate their San Diego success in Escondido with the opening of the company's fourth location, soon moving into the space next door to Swami's. The eatery will offer at least 50 iPourIt self-serve beer taps and a restaurant that serves a menu nearly identical to the Oceanside and Carlsbad locations. Expect a wood-heavy interior design with plenty of barrel-shaped tables and accents. The gastropub will also serve wine and non-alcoholic beverages (kombucha, craft soda, tea and iced coffee).

Barrel Republic will soon begin construction at 136 W Grande Avenue in Escondido for an anticipated Fall 2018 opening. For more information, visit barrelrepublic.com and check out the food menu below (click to enlarge).
