La Clochette French Bakery Opening In Mission Valley & Bringing New Spanish Fusion Concept To Solana Beach

January 9, 2024

San Diego's nine-year-old La Clochette Cafe & Bakery is opening another branch in Mission Valley and launching a new full bar and restaurant concept dubbed CTZN in Solana Beach.

Originally founded in La Jolla in 2015, La Clochette Du Coin was the storefront cafe concept eventually backed by since-shuttered Hommage Bakehouse bakery. La Clochette eventually closed their outpost at 6830 La Jolla Boulevard and relocated to Cass Street in San Diego's Pacific Beach in late 2019, where the eatery continues to thrive.

With last year's sudden closure of Hommage Bakehouse and it abandoning its leased space within Mission Valley's Civita community, La Clochette is taking over the quaint unit to launch a satellite cafe. The small eatery will offer a mostly to-go menu featuring pastries, muffins, sandwiches and other grab-and-go items, as well as offer coffee and espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages.
La Clochette owners, French-speaking brother and sister restaurant duo Willy Wu Jye Hwa and Karine Beers, are also opening a new full-service concept called CTZN on the base floor of Solana Beach's under-construction Sandbox office, retail and residential complex. While little is currently known about the upcoming CTZN bar & restaurant, expect a full restaurant with a tapas-centric menu fusing Northern Spanish Basque cuisine with California flavors, as well as an onsite bar serving cocktails, beer, other hard beverages and wine.

La Clochette Civita is expected to open by this spring at 7995 Civita Boulevard, Suite 11, in San Diego's Mission Valley, while CTZN is not expected to open until late 2024 at 343 South Highway 101, Suite 110, in Solana Beach. For more information, visit laclochettesd.com.
