Albuquerque New Mexico's popular The Farmacy restaurant will soon bring Pacific Northwest-inspired brunch fare to San Diego's East Village.
Founded in September 2016 by Chef Jacob Elliot and Mary Hammack, The Farmacy has long been a destination for hyper-locally sourced, farm-fresh brunch in Albuquerque, NM. Chef Elliot spent the early part of his life living in cities around the county. The Portland native eventually lived in Los Angeles, Austin, and eventually Albuquerque.
The Farmacy will soon open in the space that last housed Minou Creperie in downtown San Diego, which is ironic because the flagship location of The Farmacy also replaced a former creperie. Like the original branch, expect a rotating menu of scratch-made, comfort food dishes including sweet & savory waffles, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, quiche, sandwiches like a Reuben and tuna melt, and more, as well as espresso drinks, craft hard beverages and mimosas.
"I lived in Venice in the early 2000's, and always wanted to get back to SoCal someday," explained Jacob Elliot. "Ultimately, we moved here to be closer to my kids."
Everything at The Farmacy is a labor of love. For instance, the corned beef for the Reuben is house made and brined for ten days, then cooked slowly overnight and served up with sauerkraut and house-made Russian dressing.
The Farmacy is expected to open as early as this March at 721 Eighth Avenue in San Diego's East Village. For more information, follow The Farmacy on Instagram.
