Latchkey Brewing Taking Over Bitter Brothers Space In San Diego's Bay Ho Neighborhood

February 21, 2024

San Diego's six-year-old Latchkey Brewing Company has taken over the space that last housed Bitter Brothers Brewing in San Diego's Bay Park.

Founded by lifelong home brewer Matt West and Ballast Point Brewing alumni Gerald Dollente, Latchkey Brewing Company opened in April 2018 in the space that last housed Acoustic Ales within the 1912-built Mission Brewery Plaza in San Diego's Middletown. The Latchkey team closed its 15 barrel brewhouse in 2021 amidst the ongoing pandemic and the company has been brewing its beer out of Viewpoint Brewing Company in Del Mar. In early 2022, Latchkey Brewing founders took over The Landings at Carlsbad, a restaurant located directly adjacent to the McClellan-Palomar Airport.

The Latchkey team have now leased the 3,200 square-foot unit that last housed Bitter Brothers Brewing near Costco in San Diego's Bay Ho community. Once they move in, Latchkey's head of brewing operations Gerald Dollente and head brewer Anthony Beach will begin setting up the brewhouse and brewing beers out of the space. In addition to a full tasting room experience, the crew also plans to install an onsite kitchen through a partnership with an area food business.

Latchkey Brewing is expected to open this spring at 4170 Morena Boulevard in San Diego's Bay Ho. For more information, visit latchkeybrew.com.
