As part of Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa's $50 million renovation, San Diego-based celebrity chef Richard Blais opened Ember & Rye restaurant in March 2021, offering a menu centered around San Diego produce, locally-caught seafood, raw bar items, and dry-aged steaks. He was also the founding chef of Juniper & Ivy and The Crack Shack locations in Little Italy and California English restaurant in Mira Mesa.

There was a reportedly a grease fire at Ember & Rye restaurant on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, that resulted in extensive damage to the kitchen area. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the blaze. Initially, it was expected that the restaurant would reopen within a couple of weeks but nearly nine months later and the restaurant remains close.

After months of speculation on whether it would ever return, Ember & Rye has now set a June 22 reopening date. In a video posted to social media, Richard Blais promises brand new menu items and a future unveiling of a recently-hired chef de cuisine.
