The Taco Stand Bringing New Location To San Diego's North County

May 12, 2024

A new area location of modern Mexican taqueria The Taco Stand is in the works for San Diego's North County.

Founded by Aram Baloyan and Julian Hakin Baloyan's Shōwa Hospitality, The Taco Stand first opened in La Jolla in November 2013. The company now has restaurants in downtown San Diego, Encinitas, North Park and Kearny Mesa, as well as Mission Viejo, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, Orange County, Miami, Dallas, and Las Vegas.

The newest The Taco Stand will open in the space currently occupied by San Diego Coffee Company off Coast Highway in South Oceanside. Inspired by the food stands of Tijuana, the eatery will offer an old-world taco stand décor with a menu of tacos on handmade tortillas, burritos, quesadillas, smothered fries and Mexican side dishes.

Shōwa Hospitality is a San Diego-based restaurant collective that operates such local eateries as The Taco Stand, Himitsu in La Jolla, Shōwa Ramen on the UCSD campus, Convoy Music Bar, and many other outside San Diego. The company recently took over the quaint unit on Wall Street in La Jolla that housed Coffee Cup restaurant since 1998 to open a new Mexican-inspired breakfast and lunch eatery called Comedor Nishi

The Taco Stand is expected to open by year's end at 1722 South Coast Highway, Suite A-4, in San Diego's North County city of Oceanside. For more information, visit letstaco.com.
