Petco Park-Adjacent Omni San Diego Opening Two New Baja-Inspired Restaurants

June 26, 2024

The Gaslamp Quarter's Petco Park-adjacent Omni San Diego Hotel is in the process of a huge renovation that includes the addition of two new Baja-inspired restaurants.

Located in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, Omni San Diego Hotel is completing a top-to-bottom renovation that includes a redesigned poolside experience, two new food and beverage concepts, refreshed meeting and event spaces, and reimagined lobby and guest rooms. The award-winning hotel's Skybridge directly connects the hotel to San Diego Padres Petco Park stadium.

Led by New York-based design studio, Jeffrey Beers International, Omni San Diego Hotel’s new aesthetic offer a baseball-inspired design that pays homage to its connection with Petco Park and the San Diego Padres. Shades of green and brown are layered throughout the property, complemented by thoughtful details such as stitched leather panels at the reception desk, stadium-style light fixtures, geometric patterned carpets, and curated artwork that engages with the action and motion of baseball through history.
Perched on the hotel’s sixth floor, the reimagined Tortuga pool bar and terrace features multiple indoor lounges and an expansive pool deck that overlooks the water. Tortuga's Baja bites and robust beverage menu, inspired by Executive Chef Wenceslao Zavala’s roots in Rosarito, Baja California, features dishes including grilled Baja fish tacos and Shrimp Adovada, as well as signature cocktails such as the Lychee Blossom, made with Yobo soju, lychee juice, cane syrup, fresh lemon juice and aquafaba.
Overlooking the city, Omni San Diego Hotel’s newly designed, 8,000 square-foot rooftop pool reveals sweeping views of San Diego’s sun and skyline. Shaded daybeds and lounge chairs line the dramatic pool deck, along with private cabanas designed by Indo Puri, complete with lounge furniture and mounted televisions. Guests can also relax in comfortable chaises by the outdoor fire pits or gather in Tortuga’s modern bar and dining spaces for a fresh bite.
The hotel's new street-level restaurant and bar, Ace Porter, is headed by Director of Outlet Operations Priscilla Reyes and Executive Chef Wenceslao Zavala. Positioned adjacent to the lobby and with a separate outside entrance, the communal space features a cylindrical bar, stadium-inspired lighting, and wrap-around bottle display. Offering a selection of indoor, outdoor and high-top seating, diners can enjoy a playful menu of "Designated Hitters," with dishes such as the blistered shishito peppers, vegetable meze platter, and frings loaded nachos for pre-and post-game bites. Additional standout menu items include the Ace burger, stone & fruit pancetta panzanella, and chicken sundae, made with a waffle cone, spicy crispy chicken, cinnamon ice cream, and Mike’s Hot Honey, paired with a selection of local draft beers, signature cocktails, wine and mocktails.
For a quick bite, the hotel’s lobby-side restaurant, Fres.co Market + Café, is open for breakfast and lunch, offering a variety of freshly prepared baked goods and house-made grab-and-go offerings, along with Stance coffee, espresso drinks, wine and beer.
