Protector Brewery Unveils Downtown San Diego Bayfront Tasting Room

June 22, 2024

San Diego's Protector Brewery has unveiled a tasting room on the base floor of the Intercontinental Hotel along downtown's bay front.

Founded in San Diego's craft beer soaked Miramar by husband-and-wife Sean and Cory Haggerty in 2017, Protector Brewery produces a lineup of organic beers like the Warfighter Double Dry Hopped Hazy IPA and Lite Lager. Last year, the couple signed a lease for the 1,900 square-foot space at BRIC at InterContinental San Diego, which was once slated to become a taproom from Vista-based Latitude 33 Brewing Company before a company shakeup in 2019.

Protector Brewery's new tasting room should satisfy a much needed craft beer fix along downtown San Diego's tourist-filled waterfront. Sited adjacent to Lane Field Park, the taproom is outfitted with a covered outdoor patio with fire features, communal tables, a craft beer cooler, a merchandise section, and a bar outfitted with 30 tap handles devoted to Protector's signature and special release organic brews and guest beverages. Named Protector Brewery Hide Site, the space will also soon offer an onsite food component featuring a menu of thin-crust pizzas.

Protector Brewery has a military theme in honor of founder Sean Haggerty's former career as a Navy SEAL. As such, expect frequent collaborations with the nearby USS Midway Museum and the new Navy SEAL museum opening later this year. A patriotic grand opening event is anticipated to take place on Fourth of July.

Protector Brewery Hide Site is now open at 901 Bayfront Court in downtown San Diego. For more information, visit protectorbrewery.com and check out the food menu below.
