The Gumbo Pot Po'Boy Shop Bringing Louisiana Subs & New Orleans Cuisine To San Diego's South Bay

August 25, 2024

The Gumbo Pot Po’Boy Shop will bring Louisiana-style sub sandwiches to San Diego when it opens its first brick-and-mortar location later this year.

Husband-and-wife founders Chef Richard & Lynne Taylor have been operating The Po’Boy Shop as a virtual eatery sited within Hancock Kitchens collective in San Diego's Midway District. They also own other ghost kitchen concepts, including The Gumbo Pot, Dem Dawgs, Return of the Mac, Aunt Becky’s Front Porch, Diaspora, and Sally’s Sweetie Pies.

The Taylors have now taken over the space previously occupied by Shotcaller Street Soul Food, which closed last year after the owners were federally charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. At The Po' Boy shop, expect a menu of po boy sandwiches, including a classic fried shrimp variety, as well as plates with proteins like fried catfish and blackened chicken. The eatery will also offers specials from sister concepts, including gumbo and over-the-top mac n' cheese.

The Gumbo Pot Po’Boy Shop is expected to open by year's end at 220 Euclid Avenue, Suite 180, in San Diego's Lincoln Park neighborhood. For more information, visit poboyshopsd.square.site
