The former surf shop at the base of PB Shore Club is now The Haole Shack, a fast-casual, Hawaiian-inspired eatery from the team behind many San Diego hotspots.
Grind & Prosper Hospitality and Square One Concepts have teamed up to repurpose the longtime Pacific Beach Surf Shop space on the ground level outside PB Shore Club for the opening of a Hawaiian-themed restaurant. Named after the oft-derogatory term for a non-native Hawaiian person, The Haole Shack offers a "North Shore vibe" and a menu of smash burgers, teriyaki bowls, fries, and shaved ice.
In addition to a menu featuring double and single smash burgers, there will be black bean burgers and "Double Shaka" smothered fries topped with tri-tip, chicken, kook sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds. Teriyaki bowls are also offered with options such as chicken, tofu, or tri-tip, served with steamed vegetables, kimchi-seasoned fried rice, togarashi, teriyaki, and kook sauce. Food is available for takeout from the counter, and there will also be patio parklet seating available for 16 guests.
