Coronado Schools Go Into Lockdown And Suspect Reportedly Detained Following Report Of Shots Fired

A lockdown was implemented at Coronado High School, Coronado Middle School, and Village Elementary School today following unsubstantiated reports of gunfire in the area. A suspect has allegedly been detained, and the situation is currently under investigation.

Around 2pm on Thursday, Coronado police responded to reports of a possible shooting near Coronado High School. Local law enforcement responded swiftly placing the area schools on lockdown as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. Police conducted a thorough campus search with K-9 units to ensure safety and began coordinated with the school to clear common areas. A suspect, allegedly a freshman at the high school, was quickly detained. 
At this time, there are no reported injuries, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. It is believed no shots were actually fired and the response was related to verbal threats.
