Known for its unique spin on Mexican street food, LOLA 55 has earned accolades including the prestigious Bib Gourmand rating from the Michelin Guide, recognizing it as one of California’s best Mexican eateries. Owned by Tijuana native Frank Vizcarra, LOLA 55 first opened in San Diego’s East Village in 2018 and soon became a beloved spot for elevated yet affordable tacos and cocktails. Vizcarra, a former executive at companies like McDonald's and Tender Greens, named the restaurant after his mother, Lola, and developed the concept with the vision of combining quality Mexican flavors with a sophisticated yet approachable setting.
Following the success of the flagship and a second location in Carlsbad, this past October, Vizcarra launched L55 Tacos & More, a scalable version of its signature concept sited inside Westfield UTC mall. In addition to additional branches of Lola 55, the company will launch more L55 locations around San Diego County and beyond, making authentic "Cal-Mex" cuisine accessible to an even wider audience.
Vizcarra has now taken over the building formerly occupied by Go Go Amigo, sited across from Stone Brewing inside Liberty Station in Point Loma. The restaurant will serve the same menu of tacos that were made famous at the other two branches, plus additional entrees and specials, as well as a full bar with agave-forward cocktails.
LOLA 55's third location will open in late 2025 at 2885 Perry Road within the Liberty Station compound in San Diego's Point Loma. For more information, visit lola55.com.
