Online review aggregator Yelp has published its end of the year top 10 list, which celebrates new dining hotspots across the United States. The company uses data like review ratings, volume, health scores, and insights from Yelp's trend experts to determine the most buzzworthy eateries.
The 2024 list reflects a growing demand for experimental dining experiences, dramatic food presentations, and approachable atmospheres. Japanese cuisine took center stage this year, with six of the top 25 restaurants offering Japanese-inspired menus. Additionally, the trend toward relaxed, welcoming environments indicates diners are gravitating away from formal settings in favor of more accessible, community-driven spaces.
While New York’s Mēdüzā Mediterrania claimed the top spot, San Diego was well-represented with Kinme Omakase in Hillcrest and Boujiemana in Serra Mesa, ranking fourth and eighth, respectively.
