Yemeni Cafe Concept Delah Coffee House Prepares For Southern California Debut In San Diego's North Park

Delah Coffee House, a Yemeni cafe brand rooted in Northern California, is set to expand to San Diego, marking its Southern California debut with a new location in North Park.

Founded in San Francisco in 2022 by Majed Mohamed and Omar Alkhameri, Delah Coffee currently operates four locations around the Northern California Bay Area. The cafe concept is moving into part of the former Il Postino restaurant space on 30th Street and will offer a menu that celebrates Yemeni coffee traditions.

Delah Coffee is inspired by Yemen's rich coffee history. Yemen was the first country to cultivate coffee commercially, with the Port of Mokha playing a pivotal role in global coffee trade. The café's name refers to the traditional Yemeni coffee pot, or delah, and its interior often features educational displays about Yemeni coffee culture, including portraits of farmers and historic maps.
Signature items at Delah include spiced lattes infused with cinnamon and cardamom, traditional qishr brewed from coffee cherry husks, and light roast coffee kettles served with warming candles. Delah Coffee is also known for its pastries, blending sweet and savory flavors such as the cream cheese-stuffed, honey-drizzled Bee Bite. The lengthy menu also includes pour over coffee, teas, smoothies, and other soft drinks.

This new location on 30th Street places Delah Coffee in proximity to existing coffee spots like Caffè Calabria, offering North Park a diverse selection of coffee traditions from different parts of the world. Once open, Delah Coffee aims to bring its blend of tradition, culture, and hospitality to San Diego's vibrant café scene.

Delah Coffee House is expected to open in early 2025 at 3959 30th Street in San Diego's North Park. For more information, visit delahcoffee.com.
