Los Angeles' Michelin-Recognized Luscious Dumplings To Open First San Diego Location

Los Angeles' Michelin-recognized Luscious Dumplings Chinese restaurant is set to open its first San Diego location.

Luscious Dumplings was first founded in San Gabriel, CA, in 2001 by husband-and-wife Alan Lam and Grace Li, and has since grown to include branches in Monrovia, CA, and Philadelphia. The family business saw further expansion when their daughter Michelle Wu and her husband opened the Monrovia outpost in 2012 and later introduced Mason's Dumpling Shop in Highland Park in 2018. This sister brand has also spread to Colorado, with locations in Aurora, Boulder, and Belham. Another Luscious Dumplings is planned for Beverly Hills, reflecting their ongoing expansion.

The new San Diego venue will open within the Village Walk at Eastlake Shopping Center in Chula Vista. The eatery will continue the company's tradition of offering dumplings made fresh daily, featuring a variety fillings, all prepared with high-quality ingredients and traditional Northern Chinese recipes. The menu will include potstickers, xiao long bao soup dumplings, and boiled dumplings, as well the cute custard-filled animal faces and a small menu of appetizers, noodle dishes, soups, and bao buns.

The ambiance at Luscious Dumplings is known for its simplicity, focusing on the quality of food rather than elaborate decor. The restaurant's commitment to fresh, hand-made dumplings has earned it a loyal following, with lines seen flowing out the door at all locations. The Michelin Bib Gourmand award, which the restaurant holds, is given to establishments offering good quality and value, further setting it apart in the competitive culinary landscape.

Luscious Dumplings will open later this year at 884 Eastlake Parkway in San Diego's South Bay city of Chula Vista. For more information, visit lusciousdumplings.com.
