Telefèric Barcelona To Bring Tapas & Spanish Flare As Part Of Westfield UTC’s New Luxury Culinary Wing

San Diego is about to get a taste of Spain. Telefèric Barcelona, the Spanish tapas and paella concept, is set to open a location at Westfield UTC in La Jolla as part of the mall's latest luxury expansion.

Telefèric Barcelona is a family-owned group with roots in Catalonia, founded by the Padrosa family. Their first restaurant began in their hometown near Barcelona, and over the years the brand has expanded across California with locations in Walnut Creek, Los Gatos, Palo Alto and Long Beach. The restaurant will soon bring authentic Spanish flavors, vibrant decor, and a lively social-dining atmosphere, complementing UTC’s new suite of high-fashion boutiques and elevated restaurant lineup.

Their menu emphasizes tapas, pintxos, inventive cocktails, and signature paellas with a Mediterranean ambiance, mixing traditional Spanish elements with a modern twist. The spaces are known for their open kitchens, elegant tilework, and design touches that evoke the feeling of dining on Barcelona’s vibrant terraces.
Telefèric Barcelona's entry into San Diego is part of a sweeping new UTC revamp. Alongside Telefèric, the mall is bringing in Chanel, Tom Ford, Carolina Herrera, and other luxury fashion houses. There are two new stand-out restaurants confirmed: Telefèric on one level and JOEY, the Canadian upscale casual chain, dropping into another.

The old Nordstrom building has made room for this nearly 70,000 square foot expansion, filled with new retail, luxury boutiques, added underground parking, enhanced landscaping, valet service, and more places to linger and dine. UTC is positioning itself not just as a shopping center but as a destination: resort-like, relaxed coastal elegance meets high fashion and culinary theater.

Telefèric Barcelona is expected to open next year at Westfield UTC inside San Diego's La Jolla/UTC area. For more information, visit telefericbarcelona.com.
