Telefèric Barcelona is a family-owned group with roots in Catalonia, founded by the Padrosa family. Their first restaurant began in their hometown near Barcelona, and over the years the brand has expanded across California with locations in Walnut Creek, Los Gatos, Palo Alto and Long Beach. Telefèric Barcelona's entry into San Diego is part of a sweeping new UTC revamp. Alongside Telefèric, the mall is bringing in Chanel, Tom Ford, Carolina Herrera, and other luxury fashion houses. There are two new stand-out restaurants confirmed: Telefèric on one level and JOEY, the Canadian upscale casual chain, dropping into another.
