Social Media Posts Spark Controversy Around San Diego’s Newly-Opened Delah Coffee In North Park; Owner Calls Allegations “Completely False”

A series of online posts circulating on neighborhood forums and local social media groups in recent days have made a number of serious allegations about workplace conditions at the newly opened Delah Coffee location on 30th Street in San Diego's North Park, but the owner states the claims are baseless and untrue and is reportedly pursuing legal action against the party involved.

The claims, made on community forums like Reddit and NextDoor and at least one San Diego food-centric Facebook group, describe an array of alleged issues involving training practices, turnover, payroll, and other workplace complaints, as well as more serious misconduct allegations. None of the statements have been independently verified, and no government agency has announced any inquiry or action relating to the café.

Following publication of the posts, SanDiegoVille contacted both Delah Coffee’s corporate team and the North Park franchise owner. Delah Coffee corporate emphasized that the San Diego café is independently owned and operated under a franchise agreement, meaning hiring, payroll, training, and employee oversight are handled entirely at the local level. The company stated that it had not previously been aware of the claims and that the allegations do not reflect the standards required of any franchisee. Corporate confirmed that it has initiated an internal review and is in communication with the local owner to request a full explanation.

Corporate further stated that Delah Coffee maintains zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, retaliation, payroll irregularities, or any conduct that compromises employee safety or professionalism, and that all franchisees are obligated to comply with employment law and the brand’s operating standards. The company added that it would not comment further until it gathers all relevant facts.

Local franchise owner Mohammad Mousa also responded to SanDiegoVille, calling all allegations “completely false.” Mousa stated that he has payroll records, training documentation, security footage, and witness statements that he believes refute each claim made online. He said his legal team has issued a cease-and-desist notice to the individual believed to be responsible for the posts. Mousa added that the café has welcomed new customers since opening and invited SanDiegoVille to visit the shop to observe operations firsthand.

As with all anonymous online allegations, readers are reminded that such posts do not constitute verified evidence, and no regulatory agency findings or public documents currently support or substantiate any of the claims. Delah Coffee corporate also noted that the situation concerns only the North Park franchise and that other Delah locations are not connected to or involved in the matter.

Delah Coffee, founded in San Francisco in 2022, is known for its Yemeni coffee program, including spiced lattes, traditional qishr, and pastries such as the Bee Bite. The North Park café is the brand’s first Southern California franchise and opened in October 2025.
