South Bay San Diego's Victorino’s Pizzeria And The Taco Fiend Team Up To Give Away 1,000 Free Pizza Slices In Holiday Community Event

Victorino’s Pizzeria and viral content creator The Taco Fiend are joining forces this holiday season for a massive community giveaway: 1,000 free pizza slices, handed out all day long on December 18 in San Diego’s South Bay.

The event will run from 11am to 8pm at Victorino’s Pizzeria on Bonita Road in Chula Vista, and aims to bring the “San Diego 619 community” together for a day of generosity, celebration, and festive cheer. Santa and his elves are expected to make an appearance, adding to what organizers are calling one of the happiest and tastiest giveback events of the season. The event is free, open to the public, and limited to 1,000 slices while supplies last.

The collaboration between Victorino’s owner Victor Lopez and The Taco Fiend began the way most great food partnerships do: over a shared passion for feeding people. Eduardo Guerra, better known as The Taco Fiend, first met Lopez while filming a stop at Lopez’s El Pollo Grill during his cross-country burrito tour. The two struck up an immediate connection rooted in community work rather than business opportunity.

“Victor was the only one where we just had a human conversation about life,” Guerra shared. “Instead of wanting something from me, we both wanted to give back. Once I met him, I knew he was going to be a lifelong friend.”

Lopez’s reputation for feeding the community - from giving away free tacos when the Chargers lost to supporting local orphanages - resonated deeply with Guerra, whose own rise to online fame is intertwined with his mission to help others. After overcoming alcoholism and depression, Guerra built a following nearing 600,000 on TikTok and over 700,000 on Instagram through honest food reviews, humor, and his now-famous taco-shop buyouts, where he pays small businesses for a full day’s sales so the public can eat for free.

“The reason I want to use my blessings to help others is because I truly feel like God saved my life,” Guerra said. “None of this is for me - it’s for God, my community, and my supporters.”

For Lopez, the event also highlights the evolution of Victorino’s. Inspired by a 2022 family trip to New York, he set out to bring true East Coast–style pizza to San Diego, hiring a New York pizzaiolo and offering New York, Chicago, and Detroit-style pies - the only pizzeria in South Bay offering all three under one roof. Despite a turbulent year that included a highly publicized and ultimately dissolved partnership with heavyweight boxing champion Andy Ruiz Jr., Lopez remains committed to building community through food.

On December 18, both Lopez and Guerra will channel their shared belief that food should bring people together. The pair hopes the giveaway becomes a moment of unity, generosity, and holiday joy for families across South Bay.
