According to the San Diego Police Department, officers received multiple reports of a stabbing just after midnight on Tuesday, May 26, in the Barons Market parking lot on the 4000 block of West Point Loma Boulevard. Officers and medics responded to the scene and provided aid to the unconscious victim before he was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police described the victim as a 19-year-old Black male. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
Investigators identified the suspect as the victim’s 29-year-old brother, Charles Fluker. Officers later located and arrested Fluker at a residence on the 2700 block of Ulric Street at approximately 4:40am, according to SDPD. Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding what led to the violence.
Public records indicate CharlesFluker had previously been linked to multiple criminal cases in Southern California dating back to 2017. According to a July 2017 City News Service report, San Diego police identified Fluker as the suspect in a stabbing at Liberty Station in which an 18-year-old man was allegedly stabbed six times during an early morning argument near 2400 Cushing Road. Authorities said the victim suffered four stab wounds to the arm and two to the abdomen before being transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Just weeks later, Fluker was arrested in Riverside County after authorities accused him of stealing a diamond ring from a jewelry store at the Lake Elsinore Outlets. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, investigators alleged that Fluker entered the store pretending to be a customer before grabbing the ring and fleeing on foot. Deputies, including a K-9 unit, located and arrested him after a short chase near Collier Avenue, though the ring was never recovered. City News Service later reported that Fluker pleaded not guilty to a grand theft charge stemming from the incident. At the time, authorities stated he had no prior documented felony convictions in Riverside County.
The San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit is handling the investigation. Fluker was expected to be processed, interviewed, and booked into county jail in connection with the homicide.
