Urban Solace Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary | Sunday, August 19th

August 16, 2012

Urban Solace will welcome friends, foodies and neighbors to enjoy drinks, light fare and music in celebration of its five-year anniversary on Sunday, August 19 from 6-9 p.m.  This charming North Park hotspot is known for its sophisticated, Southern-inspired comfort food that has been satisfying diners for half a decade now.

Executive Chef and Owner Matt Gordon first opened Urban Solace’s doors five years ago as a neighborhood restaurant that has since grown into an award-winning San Diego favorite. Gordon’s values run deep in the restaurant and bar menus, which now exclude all artificial ingredients. The celebratory event will feature interactive stations demonstrating the smart sourcing choices of Urban Solace. Chef Matt prides himself and his restaurants in serving natural, organic, sustainable and whole foods at both Urban Solace and Solace & The Moonlight Lounge in Encinitas.

Guests are asked to make a $15 donation at the door to benefit Mama’s Kitchen, a long time partner of Urban Solace. Mama’s Kitchen was founded in 1990 when volunteers from the AIDS Assistance Fund discovered that many of their clients were becoming too ill to take care of themselves. They realized that a reliable home meal delivery service was needed to ensure that these individuals would continue to receive nutritious, life-sustaining food. In 2004, Mama’s Pantry was opened to provide individuals with HIV/AIDS who are able to prepare meals the opportunity to supplement their nutritional needs. Mama’s Kitchen has served over six million meals since it was founded and has never turned away a client who qualified for our services. Our commitment to our clients remains unchanged. Today, the organization has expanded its service to San Diegans affected by either AIDS or cancer. Mama’s Kitchen provides three meals a day, for every day of the year, free of charge, to more than 570 men, women, and children in San Diego County.
