Puesto Mexican Street Food Expands - La Jolla's Upscale Taqueria Adds Adjacent Pickup Counter and Kitchen Space

September 3, 2012

Puesto Mexican Street Food, La Jolla’s upscale fast casual eatery offering an authentic and healthier experience in Mexican street food, will complete a physical expansion into the adjacent building in late September 2012. This will create a pickup counter for Puesto’s new online and call-ahead order system, a separate entrance from the main dining area, and additional kitchen space. Upon completion of the expansion guests will be able to make online orders by visiting eatpuesto.com.

This move will better serve the restaurant’s busy customers, particularly La Jolla professionals on time-sensitive lunch breaks. This new construction of a pickup counter and additional kitchen space will assist in handling the rising number of orders, and placing meals with patrons in a continuously time-efficient manner.

“We are constantly trying to improve our guest’s experience and wanted to give them the opportunity to order ahead of time so they can have their orders ready right when they want them,” says co-owner Eric Adler. “In addition to our build-your-own option, we’ve recently added a selection of recommended combinations for tacos, bowls and salads in an effort to better guide diners.”

Puesto’s choice of online ordering system, Snapfinger, will allow for simple “group ordering” with multi-person offices in mind. The process: multiple employees choose their individual orders via a computer (or smart phone app). All orders are then placed into one larger company order and made available for in-person pick up at the chosen time. This system will absolutely aid in serving nearby businesses, though it will be accessible to all wishing to place an online order.

The expanded kitchen will allow Puesto to introduce a catering program and partake in more community events. This year alone, Puesto has and/or will cater for the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, Rock The Cure for type 1 Diabetes, Taste of the Cove, Taste of La Jolla, as well as a number of private events. With a larger kitchen, Puesto looks forward to integrating even further into the community.

Puesto is family-owned and operated by brothers, Eric and Alan Adler, and their cousin Isi Lombrozo, all native San Diegans and La Jolla High School alums. A native of Mexico City, Puesto’s executive chef and Partner Luis Gonzalez brings genuine Latin flavors and more than 10 years of experience catering exquisite Mexican food.

Puesto offers tacos, salads, and rice bowls highlighting a variety of meats including pork alambres, salmon, shrimp, chicken al pastor, carne asada and gourmet Mexican vegetarian items like zucchini flower, corn truffle, cactus and soy chorizo potatoes. Meats and vegetables can be mixed and matched with toppings like crispy melted cheese, five homemade signature salsas, Flor De Jamaica Tinga, grilled pineapple, roasted jalapenos. Puesto is committed to serving all-natural meats, sustainable seafood, seasonally organic local vegetables, flavorful salsas made from scratch daily and homemade stone ground corn tortillas.

Puesto Mexican Street Food is located at 1026 Wall Street, La Jolla, California 92037 in downtown La Jolla. Puesto is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
