Pacific Rim Seafood Restaurant Takes Over Former Encore Champagne Bar Space In Gaslamp | Ocean Pacific Grill Now Open

Two Roy's Hawaiian Fusion veterans have chosen the former Encore Champagne Bar space on the corner of 6th and F Streets as the location for Ocean Pacific Grille - a modern seafood restaurant with a Filipino flare now open and set to have its grand opening party on June 25. Located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, Ocean Pacific Grill is helmed by Chef Charles Andres and managing partner Brian Norris and aims to serve “bold Pacific flavors in a Filipino state of mind.”

“We are excited about the opportunity to raise the standard in Pacific Rim cuisine and bring our own interpretation of Filipino Fusion. Our dynamic approach is allowing us to blaze a new trail in fresh seafood cuisine,” said Norris. A Chicago native transplanted to Southern California since 1999, Norris acquired his experience during his 8 years with Roy’s, 3 years as the GM of The Catch in Anaheim (a precursor to Taps Brewery) and as the Director of Corporate Development for Titan Brands (a Las Vegas restaurant management company).

Executive Chef Charles Andres has spent the past 12 years working as chef-partner in numerous locations in Southern California with James Beard Award winning Chef Roy Yamaguchi. Chef Charles most recently lead the team at Roy’s La Jolla and is a two-time Chef Partner of the Year. Born in the Philippines and raised in Hawaii, Chef Charles excels in adapting high-end seafood fare into modern and lighter preparations.

For both Norris & Andres, local and fresh ingredients are a key to the success of their concept. “The uniqueness of the brand is fueled by a dedication to both fresh local ingredients and our community. Having strong relationships with the community allows us to relate to our guests and provide the best service, but we are equally committed to resident farmers, fisherman and brewers,” said Chef Charles.

Ocean Pacific Grille Bar
The 4,000 square-foot space seats 150 guests including separate patio and bar seating. Ocean Pacific Grille gives diners the option of an energetic bar with engaging staff or an intimate dinner in a separate dining room with exhibition kitchen. With modern, but warm furnishings, the atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious. The bar at Ocean Pacific Grille is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 3pm – 10pm and features an extensive wine list, as well as selections of local microbrews. Dining room is open from 4 pm till 10 pm.

Signature dishes on the menu at Ocean Pacific Grille include Filipino Tocino Toast, Crispy Skin Sea bass, Sesame Crusted Ahi and Kilawin (traditional Filipino dish of raw seafood and meat preparations), with many options for every diet type.
