2nd Annual D6 Night Market Returns To Mira Mesa On Saturday, May 21

April 16, 2016

Get ready to light the night when the 2nd annual D6 Night Market returns to Mira Mesa Community Park on Saturday, May 21, from 4-10pm for a free, family-friendly public event. Named for San Diego’s City Council District 6 (“D6”), perhaps the most culturally diverse district in San Diego, the D6 Night Market will have all the elements of a successful night market including a mix of food and beverage stands, vendors, and entertainment.

The D6 Night Market will feature a “Village of Neighborhoods” where each D6 neighborhood can showcase their youth activities, opportunities for adult volunteerism, and places of worship. The D6 neighborhoods are Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, MCAS Miramar, Mira Mesa, Rancho Peñasquitos-Park Village, and Sorrento Valley. There will be activities for all ages, carnival rides, free photo booths, a laser show, a food truck gathering, a coffee/tea garden, a beer garden, a wine garden and much more!

“Night markets have historical roots, dating back to 836AD," explained San Diego Councilman Chris Cate. "As our nation celebrates Asian-Pacific Heritage Month, it is fantastic that we are able to host the district’s first night market during the month where we have the opportunity to recognize the rich and diverse traditions and backgrounds of our Asian Pacific American neighbors and friends. Through the City of San Diego’s Community Projects, Program & Services program, I am pleased to support the event with $10,000 in funding."

Mira Mesa Community Park is located on Mira Mesa Blvd. across from Mira Mesa High School, one block east of the Mira Mesa Mall, at 8575 New Salem Street. For more information, visit d6nightmarket.com.
