Karina's Ceviches & More Opens In Mission Hills

March 17, 2017

Karina's Mexican Seafood has moved into the space adjacent to Saffron Noodles and Saté at 3731-B India Street in San Diego's Mission Hills neighborhood for the opening of Karina's Ceviches & More. The 35-plus year old company also now oversees the operations at Saffron.

Karina's Ceviches & More is a fast-casual mini-version of Karina's restaurant. Expect a menu of ceviches, tacos, burritos, seafood cocktails and other Mexican taco shop items. The new Karina's location offers counter-service for dine in or take out, and the menu includes such highlights as the spicy crispy shrimp in firey mango sauce, bacon wrapped shrimp tacos, campechana seafood cocktail, ahi tuna ceviche, and the rotisserie chicken burrito. There are also Mexican sodas and beers-to-go, including Clamato mix.

Karina's Mexican Seafood has been a South Bay favorite in San Diego for 35 years. Owned by Sinaloans Arnulfo Contreras and his wife Maria Ines Curiel, and named after their daughter, Karina's has come to be known for its Baja-inspired seafood offerings, festive cocktails, and its buxsom staff of "Karina girls." In 2015, the Karina Group relocated two of their restaurants. First, Enamorada by Karina's, which sat at 866 Eastlake Parkway, moved into the Otay Ranch Town Center, taking over the former Venga Venga space right next to another of the restaurant group's concepts - Mediterranean-inspired Savoie. Karina's at 986 Broadway in Chula Vista, which had been open since 1991, also moved to 89 Bonita Road in Bonita. Last year, the company also shuttered its downtown San Diego location at 925 B Street before partnering with Saffron founder Su-Mei Yu to provide operational support at Saffron and move into the space now occupied by Karina's Ceviches & More.
