San Diego Poke Company To Open 2nd Location In Normal Heights Neighborhood

March 10, 2017

Less than one year after opening its first brick and mortar location in Mission Valley, San Diego Poke Co. has secured the space at 3533 Adams Avenue in Normal Heights for its second outpost, anticipated to debut by late spring.

San Diego Poke Co. has moved into the space previously occupied by Cairo Lounge Cafe and is currently renovating the unit to transform it into a counter-service poke eatery. Like the flagship Mission Valley branch, guests will head to the counter for made-to-order poke dishes ranging around $10 to $12 and featuring a variety of choices in fish and other seafoods, bases (varying types of rice, salad, wraps, etc.), toppings, and sauces including a house truffle soy sauce and house umami sauce. SD Poke Co. will also collaborate within the community to offer seasonally-changing desserts, and will also offer authentic mochi ice cream flown in via overnight shipping from Hawaii.

San Diego Poke Co. started as a popular poke vendor at the Hillcrest and Scripps Ranch Farmers Markets, but opened its first brick and mortar location at 10387 Friars Road in Mission Valley in May 2016. Owner Yohei Umezu first launched the company to fit the farmers market model in March 2015, and seems to be into celebrating his business anniversary with big milestones, as he opened the first location around the one-year anniversary and will likely have his second location opened around not long after his 2nd anniversary. The eatery has amassed a remarkable following for its made-to-order poke rice bowls, salads, wraps and more.

San Diego Poke Co. intends to keep expanding and is searching for more locations around America's Finest City. For more information, visit sdpokeco.com.
