Former-Top Chef Giselle Wellman Departs Little Italy's Pacific Standard Coastal Kitchen

March 9, 2017

Top Chef-alum Giselle Wellman has left her position as Executive Chef of Little Italy's Pacific Standard Coastal Kitchen, which opened in July 2016.

San Diego-native Giselle Wellman recently appeared on Bravo's Top Chef Season 13 and returned to America's Finest City last year after spending the eight previous years honing her skills alongside internationally renowned chefs, including Thomas Keller (Bar Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery, Los Angeles), Jean George (Nougatine at Jean Georges, NYC) and Mario Batali (Del Posto, NYC), before becoming the youngest female Executive Chef in Los Angeles at the age of 26 at the upscale French-influenced Petrossian restaurant in 2010. At Pacific Standard, Wellman introduced diners to her coastal-inspired rustic-refined cuisine.

The kitchen at Pacific Standard is now in the capable hands of another local female chef. Chef Ami, who previously worked as Chef de Cuisine of JRDN at Tower23 in Pacific Beach, is a 2010 graduate of San Diego Culinary Institute and has worked in some of San Diego’s finest kitchens, including Blush Ice Bar + East and West Kitchen, Mister A's, and Alchemy.

Although Wellman is no longer in the kitchen at Pacific Standard, fans can see her cook and eat her food at the Festa Della Dona female chef dinner, taking place on Sunday, March 12 at Cucina Enoteca in Del Mar.
