Opening later this month within San Marcos' Old California Restaurant Row is Landon's Gourmet Kitchen, a casual, farm-to-table restaurant specializing in California cuisine that will offer on-site childcare for parents who choose to dine without children while keeping them nearby.
"My husband Garrett and I decided to open a farm-to-table, casual dining restaurant with on-site childcare after our son Landon was born," explained owner Charlynn Mann. "We realized we couldn’t go out to eat without it being huge production. We had to find and hire a babysitter we could trust. Then (IF she didn’t cancel), we had to spend 15 minutes showing her where to find everything and letting her know what my son needed before we could get out the door. To top it off, it was expensive and we had to make sure we were back on time and apologize profusely if we were late."
Landon’s menu features California American cuisine designed by Executive Chef Christophe Douheret, who has been leading kitchens for nearly two decades. Highlights include the La Reine flatbread with shaved French ham, white mushroom, Swiss & Mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil, all topped with crispy bacon; the California roasted beet salad with field greens, green apple, goat cheese, rosemary, roasted walnuts, cucumber, chives, and a red wine vinaigrette; the Burrata y Prosciutto tartine served open face on toasted levain bread with walnut pesto, tomato, arugula, cold pressed olive oil and aged balsamic; and the Steak Frites with USDA pub tenderloin topped with cognac & herb butter, sided by a salad and crispy fries. The restaurant will also 12 craft beers on tap and a curated wine list.
