Drive-Thru-Only Chick-Fil-A Restaurants To Open In San Diego

March 7, 2018

Two drive-thru-only Chick-Fil-A restaurants will open in San Diego this year - debuting in National City this week with a second heading to Clairemont this Spring.

From franchise owner Michael Gonzales, the first of two drive-thru-only Chick-Fil-A restaurants will unveil in National City this Thursday, March 8.  Located at 400 Mile of Cars Way, the eatery will have two drive-thru lanes, three walk-up ordering windows and offer al fresco seating for up to 60 diners. It will be open from 6am to 10pm Monday through Saturday. The first 100 people  to order meals at the new restaurant will win Chick-Fil-A meals for a year, continuing a tradition that goes back 14 years.

A second drive-thru-only Chick-Fil-A is anticipated to open in Clairemont at 5955 Balboa Avenue later this month. That location will be operated by San Diego native Glenn Murdock, who has been running a Chick-fil-A in Encinitas since 2012, and will feature two ordering lanes that merge into one lane for pickup, plus three ordering windows for walk-up customers. The space will also include patio seating for up to 40 patrons.

Opened in 1967 by Truett Cathy, Chick-Fil-A’s first restaurant was located in Atlanta’s Greenbriar Mall. The first drive-thru-exclusive eatery opened in 1993 in Greenville, South Carolina. The company now operates more than 2,200 restaurants, primarily in the United States.
