San Diego Born Superfood Eatery Everbowl Secures Funding For Aggressive 2019 Expansion

January 23, 2019

San Diego's two year old Everbowl, a superfood chain that recently opened its 17th store, has secured $3 Million in funding from a Canadian private equity firm to help support an agressive expansion for 2019 and beyond.

First opened in Poway in 2016, Everbowl is a fast-casual, healthy superfood eatery featuring a streamlined counter-service menu of build-your-own acai and other "craft superfood" bowls and smoothies. Founded by passionate healthy lifestyle advocate and San Diego serial entrepreneur Jeff Fenster, Everbowl started as a singular operation in San Diego's Poway community in October 2016 but now has seventeen locations around San Diego and Riverside counties, primarily in suburban pockets and shopping centers. It is rumored that the quick expansion of Everbowl was initially fueled by an investment by San Diego serial restarateur and Cohn Restaurant Group founder, David Cohn, who is also a silent partner in the recently opened Pioneer BBQ concept in Lake Murray and other projects.

Everbowl has received $3 Million in funding from Toronto-based private equity group, Serruya Private Equity through the company's wholly owned subsidiary International Franchise Inc.. Serruya Private Equity is known for playing an integral part in the growth of such companies as Pinkberry, Jamba Juice, Cold Stone Creamery and other well-known brands. Everbowl intends to use the funds to continue expanding throughout California, with goals to enter into Arizona, Nevada and beyond over the next couple years.

Each Everbowl location offers a quick-serve menu of "craft superfoods" - fresh fruit-laden, layered parfaits that allow the consumer to choose from one of four superfood base options - acai, pitaya (dragon fruit), graviola (soursop) or acerola (Barbados cherry). Customers can choose the liquid which is blended into the base and select from an extensive list of fruit toppings to create a custom bowl with healthy "super stuff" add-ins such as spirulina and bee pollen. Each bowl is priced at $8, and includes unlimited ingredients. They also offer smoothies, as well as a focused menu of grab-and-go salads.
