Better Buzz Coffee To Open Third Pacific Beach Outpost & La Jolla Location

February 21, 2019

Better Buzz Coffee Roasters is opening its third coffee bar in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood, taking over the former CBW Crazy Bowls & Wraps location that was previously slated to become a drive-through pizzeria. The company also has more locations on the way.

Founded by then-college students Tim Langdon and Stephanie Garden as a coffee cart in 2002, Better Buzz Coffee Roasters opened its first location at 1909 Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach in 2007. The company has substantially grown over the past decade and now has outposts in Point Loma, Mission Beach, Encinitas, San Marcos, a hub at Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley, its roasting facility in Vista, two branches in Pacific Beach, and a gigantic 8,000 square-foot, two-story headquarters in Hillcrest. The local craft coffee roaster has no plan on slowing down and has at least two more locations in the works.

The newest Better Buzz will move into the standalone building at 822 Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach that last housed Crazy Bowls & Wraps. The building will soon undergo a complete renovation by Davis Ink to transform it into a modern coffee house with a drive through window and rooftop lounge. Like other area locations, the new PB spot will serve a menu of coffee and espresso drinks, including drip coffee and cold brews, as well as a lineup of organic smoothies and an expanded breakfast and lunch food menu with avocado toast, grilled sandwiches, paninis, muffins, cookies, bagels and a variety of acai bowls. The new location will also serve soft serve ice cream in unique flavors like matcha.

Better Buzz Marketing Coordinator Daniel Greig also stated that a La Jolla outpost would be opening a "few short weeks" after the new Pacific Beach branch unveils. Sited at 909 Prospect Street, the La Jolla Better Buzz will have folding glass doors and a wrap-around patio. At least two additional Better Buzz locations, including one already secured for Escondido, are expected to open in North San Diego County by year's end. Justin Earley, Senior Vice President at Capital Real Estate Ventures, Inc., represents Better Buzz in securing the ideal spaces to launch new locations.

The new Better Buzz Pacific Beach aims to open by this spring with the La Jolla branch to debut during the summer. For more information, visit betterbuzzcoffee.com.
