Cody's La Jolla Relocating In La Jolla With The Cove House Taking Its Place

April 17, 2019

After two decades dishing up memorable breakfast and lunch options at 8030 Girard Avenue near the La Jolla Cove, Cody's La Jolla is moving to a new nearby location with the owner of Shore Rider taking over Cody's former homey space to build The Cove House.

Cody's La Jolla has been a fixture on Girard Avenue since 1999. In 2012, owner Adam Stearns took over the restaurant and focused on sourcing locally and upping the eatery's quality. In 2017, Stearns married the Cody's longtime general manager Amanda Dorazio and made her a partner. After being unable to secure a new lease at the original space, the husband-and-wife duo decided to relocate Cody's to nearby 1025 Prospet Street, Suite 210, in the second story unit that previously housed The Rooftop La Jolla. Cody's hopes to open in its new location by this summer, offering a similar look and menu to what patrons have come accustomed to.

Moving into Cody's old space is The Cove House, an all-day eatery from industry veteran Darren Moore, who also operates Shore Rider in nearby La Jolla Shores and co-owns Clutch Bar in Linda Vista. Expect a beachy atmosphere with an all-day menu from partner and chef Lance Repp, acclaimed Executive Chef of The University Club atop Symphony Towers and former Executive Chef of the iconic Tom Ham’s Lighthouse and La Valencia Hotel.

"I am very excited for Cove House," said Chef Lance Repp. "Cove House will offer some of your favorite breakfast and lunch classics alongside some playful dishes with a San Diego inspired twist. We are hoping to showcase what makes San Diego and La Jolla a must visit destination. I can’t wait to have Cove House become a local favorite hangout and a top destination spot for visitors alike."

The Cove House aims to open by late spring 2019.
