Mendocino Farms To Open Downtown San Diego & Carlsbad Locations

April 25, 2019

Los Angeles-based Mendocino Farms is doubling its San Diego footprint over the next year, with the company's third and fourth area restaurants planned to open in Carlsbad and downtown San Diego.

After a successful debut with the opening of the first area location in The Shops in La Jolla Village in late 2016, Mendocino Farms sandwich opened a second San Diego outpost in summer 2017 in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. The third area location will open as early as June 6 as part of The Square at Bressi Ranch - an 87,000 square-foot neighborhood center that will also house locations of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Richard Walker's Pancake House, Panini Kabob Grill, Ebullition Brew Works, Mango Mango Fresh & Healthy, Wood Ranch BBQ, Casero Taqueria, The Grove Bakery, and Bantam's Roost Gastropub. The Carlsbad location will feature an outdoor kids area with games.

Mendocino Farms was founded in Los Angeles in 2005 by husband-and-wife team Mario Del Pero and Ellen Chen. The sandwich and salad shop now has nearly 20 locations spread throughout Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. The company is now heavily backed by Whole Foods Market and offers a menu consisting of a wide-variety of sandwiches and salads

Mendocino Farms 4th area branch is expected to open in early 2020 as part of downtown San Diego's new 25-story Tower 180° office complex at the corner of First Avenue and Broadway. The downtown Mendocino Farms will offer more than 2,500 square-foot of dining space. A second San Diego location of Blue Bottle Coffee will join Mendocino Farms at Tower 180°, which will offer an elevated outdoor dining patio available to all patrons.
