San Diego's Award-Winning Lost Cause Meadery To Open Tasting Room In Bay Park

May 8, 2019

San Diego's award-winning Lost Cause Meadery is in the process of opening a 3,000 square foot tasting room in Bay Park.

Billy and Suzanna Beltz opened Lost Cause Meadery in San Diego's beer-soaked Miramar neighborhood in fall 2017. A longtime home brewery, Billy eventually developed a love and appreciation for the versatility of meadmaking. Earlier this year, Lost Cause won five medals at the Mazer Cup International Mead Competition, an event akin to The World Beer Cup for honey wine. Their five medals tied them with Michigan’s St. Ambrose Meadery for the most of any competitor in the competition.

Lost Cause is currently in the process of opening a tasting room in a former commercial real estate brokerage firm's office next door to Deft Brewing in Bay Park. The new location will serve the company's rotating array of meads for onsite consumption, as well as bottles for take home. Expect an eclectic array of flavors, including Bolt Fan Blues (orange blossom mead with blueberries and lemons) and Splash O' Cran (tart raspberry mead with cranberries and lime zest).

Lost Cause Mead should be open at 5328 Banks Street, Suite B, in Bay Park by year's end. For more information, visit lostcausemead.com.
