Inspired by family tragedy, Sister's Pizza will bring New Jersey-style pizza and American-Italian fare to the Bankers Hill/Hillcrest communities starting on Monday, June 3.
"Sisters Pizza is a labor of love in honor of my sister, Kate, who passed away suddenly at the age of 36," explained founder and New Jersey native Emily Green. "Kate and I shared a love for pizza, and Sisters Pizza is homage to all the wonderful memories we shared, and I just hope others will make their own lasting memories over food at our restaurant. The names of the pizzas are all significant to my sister and I in some way (i.e. 'Chickie Chickie Parm Parm' pizza references our favorite show, Parks & Rec, and 'The Moz' is named after one of our favorite bands, The Smiths, because 'every day is just like Sundae', and the Pepperoni Patty is named after our 17-year-old poodle)."
Founded by father-and-daughter William & Emily Green, Sisters Pizza has installed within the 1,000 square-foot space that last housed a salon on the border of Hillcrest and Bankers Hill. The restaurant will offer a menu of signature NYC/NJ pizza by the slice and whole 16", 18" and 21" pie. Sisters will start out with a limited menu upon opening but soon expand it to include appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, vegan & gluten-free pizzas, and a few classic desserts. The restaurant will also have housemade cold brew on tap, French press coffee service, wine on tap, and seven draft handles with a rotating selection of beer. Sisters also hopes to introduce a champagne-fueled Sunday brunch in the near future.
Sisters Pizza will open on June 3 at 3603 Fourth Avenue in San Diego's Bankers Hill community.
