Plant-Based The Village Mexican, Sushi & Juice Bar To Open In Former Anthem Vegan Space In North Park

June 10, 2019

Another 100% plant-based eatery is moving into the 4,000 square-foot North Park restaurant space that last housed Anthem Vegan. The Village Mexican, Sushi Bar & Juice Bar will bring an eclectic vegan menu to San Diego when it unveils later this year.

Sisters and East County natives Alondra Ruiz and Sonia Gutierrez opened Natural Delights Juice Bar in the Rancho San Diego Village plaza in La Mesa in November 2016, offering a menu of quick-service, healthy vegan eats including salads, paninis, acai bowls, juices, smoothies and Mexican delights like tacos, frescas con crema, chamangos, tostilocos, and elote in a cup. The family run operation is now ready to expand, and as the old truism goes, it takes a village... to expand a restaurant concept.

The Village is moving into the large standalone space left dormant by the relocation of Anthem Vegan, which now operates a South County outpost within Brew Bar in Chula Vista and also runs the kitchen inside North Park's Toronado. Like Anthem, The Village will offer a 100% vegan menu. Like North Park's recently unveiled The Modern Vegan, the menu will be expansive and offer a large variety of dishes from Mexican comfort foods to sandwiches to burgers, sushi, juice and smoothies. Once open, they will also host a First Friday night market in the restaurant's parking lot.

The Village Mexican, Sushi Bar & Juice Bar aims to open by mid-summer at 2611 El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego's North Park.
