The team behind San Diego's Whisknladle Hospitality have announced an opening date for Park Commons, a 10,000-square-foot food hall featuring six unique dining stalls unveiling early next month in Sorrento Valley.
Owner Arturo Kassel and Chef/Partner Ryan Johnston opened Whisknladle restaurant in La Jolla in 2008, offering a focus on local ingredients and California comfort food. Since then, the duo has teamed up to open three Prepkitchen restaurants (which were sold off in late 2017), Catania Coastal Italian in La Jolla, and the 7,000 square-foot Gravity Heights brewery restaurant in Mission Valley. Whisknladle Hospitality also maintains its ongoing involvement in Milagro Winery in Ramona, where they operate an onsite food truck.
Park Commons has been in the works for over two years. Sited at 9645 Scranton Road in Sorrento Valley, the 10,000 square-foot, multi-concept food hall and event space will open on November 11 with numerous dining concepts housed under one roof. There will be El Parque Cocina Mexicana, Slow Poke, Best Dressed Soups & Salads, Dr. J's Sandwiches & Such, Fricken Burgers Fried Chicken & Burgers, and Allspice Middle Eastern Cuisine. The all-day dining destination will also house a private room for special events, a full bar, and an onsite cafe featuring coffee drinks from Dark Horse Coffee Roasters. Developed as a central part of a new multi-campus office park, the food hall was designed by Bluemotif Architecture to house up to 200 patrons in the indoor/outdoor space.
