With the recent announcement that he will be a contestant on the next season of Bravo's Top Chef cooking series, Angelo Sosa has left his position as Executive Chef of Death By Tequila in Encinitas.
Angelo Sosa was the founding executive chef of Death By Tequila in Encinitas, which was opened by husband-and-wife Chad & Jessica Mestler in summer 2019. Sosa was previously the runner-up on season 7 of Bravo's hit Top Chef culinary competition, as well as a contestant on Top Chef Season 8 All-Stars. Sosa previously lived in New York City for the past 16 years, where he worked at and started many standout restaurants. Sosa also opened an eatery in Las Vegas, competed on an episode of Beat Bobby Flay and has co-authored a cookbook during his long and illustrious career. It was announced recently that Sosa would be competing on Top Chef Season 17, which will debut on Thursday, March 19 and also feature San Diego chef Brian Malarkey as a contestant.
Rumor has it Death By Tequila may be tinkering with the idea of selling their current location to relocate, but nothing has been confirmed. Sosa plans on staying in San Diego with plans on doing something new, maybe even opening his own eatery.
