A local man is honoring his great grandmother's legacy with the opening of Extraordinary Banana Pudding, a dessert shop launching next month in San Diego.
"The inspiration behind the Pudding shop was my great grandmother, as it was her recipe," explained Extraordinary Banana Pudding founder Toran Grays. "Her dream was to own a dessert shop. She was born and raised in Mississippi. It just started with banana pudding. The recipe was passed down to me right before she passed and I promised her that her recipe will live on through me. The pudding is thick and flavorful which all family and friends enjoyed."
Extraordinary Banana Pudding founder Toran Grays previously worked as the assistant floor manager for three years at San Diego seafood market Catalina Offshore Products. Next month he will open his pudding shop in a small retail plaza off Lake Murray Boulevard in La Mesa. The 500 square-foot space will be designed with a modern aesthetic and art installations including the company's logo with quotes and other paintings. As the name suggests, the menu will be centered around pudding in various sizes and flavors like the namesake banana, as well as French vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, cheesecake, lemon, chocolate banana, coconut, Red Velvet, and pumpkin. There will also be a variety of cupcakes, cakes, and pudding tacos will eventually be added to the menu.
Extraordinary Banana Pudding will grand open on March 14 at 8257 El Paso Street in San Diego's La Mesa community. For more information, visit
