The "World Famous" Tin Room Shutters Its San Diego Location After 3 Months

February 27, 2020

After less than 3 months in business, Texas-based Chippendales-style LGBTQ dive bar The World Famous Tin Room has shuttered in Hillcrest.

Opened in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas, TX, in 2002 by Marty Hershner, who passed away in 2010, the Tin Room is now owned and operated by Marty's brother Lonzie and his wife Nadine, who also operate several other bar and restaurant concepts in the Dallas area. The Tin Room is a LGBTQ-friendly dive bar known for a staff of scantily clad male dancers complimented by a full bar and Texas-inspired food menu.

This past December, the World Famous Tin Room opened in the 3,200 square-foot, 1902-era Craftsman house at 3683 5th Avenue in Hillcrest that last housed Project Bar & Grill. Word on the street is Tin Room owners suddenly absconded from the property this week and building owners are currently looking for a new tenant. We reached out to Tin Room owner Lonzie Hershner for comment but did not receive a response by time of publication.

This is a developing story: We will update this post as we learn more.
