43-Year-Old That Pizza Place Ends Run In San Diego's North County

June 25, 2020

Carlsbad's That Pizza Place announced this week that it is permanently closed after 43 years in business.

"Attention all of our valued customers, as some of you may have heard: we are indeed permanently closing our doors," read a post on That Pizza Place's Facebook Page. "We are heartbroken to make this announcement but there is no other option for us. The situation we all find ourselves in has created an environment under which we were unable to prosper. Despite all this we would like to thank everyone who supported us over the last forty three years with your loyal patronage. We will never forget the amazing memories we made together and we hope that you will not forget us. Thank you, for the last time."

That Pizza Place has been owned and operated by Mike Pfankuch since 1977. It is the second longtime San Diego restaurant to permanently shutter this week, following La Jolla's Crab Catcher restaurant that has closed after 40 years in business.
