Los Angeles-Based Tocaya Organica Permanently Closes 6,000 Square-Foot Downtown San Diego Location

June 18, 2020

Los Angeles-based modern Mexican restaurant chain Tocaya Organica has permanently shuttered its downtown San Diego location, with the La Jolla outpost also likely done. The Del Mar branch is scheduled to reopen on July 1.

From LA-based The Madera Group hospitality company, Tocaya Organica opened its first San Diego location at 751 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter in June 2018. The modern Mexican, health-focused concept followed up with San Diego locations within Westfield UTC in La Jolla and One Paseo in Del Mar. We received word that all three San Diego County locations are permanently closed and confirmed they are no longer listed on the company's website, but a representative from the company has stated that One Paseo will reopen for take out and delivery starting on July 1. San Diego-based chef Rich Sweeney took the position of Area Culinary Director for Tocaya Organica last spring, but that position has since been eliminated.
