San Diego's Social Syndicate hospitality and consulting firm (Wonderland Ocean Pub, The Local Pacific Beach, The Local, OB Surf Lodge, The Rabbit Hole and Bootlegger) has unveiled its most northerly venue to date. Monarch Ocean Pub has opened in the 5,600 square-foot indoor and outdoor space that last housed Epazote Mexican in Del Mar Plaza.
Launching today, Monarch Ocean Pub is a new bar and restaurant located on the top floor of Del Mar Plaza with panoramic views of coastal Del Mar and the Pacific Ocean, as well as an adjacent outdoor beer garden next to the restaurant that will eventually offer live music and entertainment. San Diego native Craig Jimenez, in his role as Social Syndicated culinary director, has developed a menu based around shareable options made with fresh area ingredients. San Diego’s Tecture Design and Fabrication, who collaborated with Social Syndicate on Blue Water Ocean Beach and Ocean Beach’s Sunset Plaza, led the design of Monarch Ocean Pub. The project is part of Brixton Capital’s wider plans to revitalize the plaza and bring fresh concepts to the community.

The menu at Monarch Ocean Pub offers an array of appetizers, salads, flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, and sides. Highlights include wood-fired smoked chicken wings, short-rib pastrami sandwich, and barbecue lettuce wraps made with smoked pork belly. The gastropub also offers a long list of local craft beers and a full bar with cocktails, hard slushies and spritzers.
