Long Story Irish Pub To Replace Royale In San Diego's Point Loma

February 12, 2021

A traditional Irish pub is being installed in the standalone space that last housed Royale on the outskirts of San Diego's Point Loma neighborhood.

From Kyle Schubert, Nathaniel Winnett, Jerod Meents and Joseph DeNigris, Long Story Irish Pub is being designed as a traditional Irish drinking house and aims to open by this spring in the space that housed Royale, which closed last November after a 3 year run. San Diego real estate sales business Next Wave Commercial represented the buyer and seller in the transaction. Schubert is a Sacramento bar and restaurant veteran who has founded multiple Irish pub concepts in the Sacramento area of California.

"As corny as it sounds, love is what brought me to San Diego," explained Long Story founder Kyle Schubert. "I am partners in three Irish pubs in Sacramento,California. We opened our first location, The Boxing Donkey Irish Pub in 2008. The Pitch & Fiddle Irish Pub opened in 2015, and Diggins Irish Pub in Auburn, CA in 2019. I moved down to San Diego this year to be with the woman I love and bring our business model to Point Loma."

Long Story will offer a menu of Irish-inspired eats like corned beer stuffed egg rolls, Reuben fries, corned beef tacos, a St. Patty Melt burger, Sherpherds Pie, bangers & mash, and a full bar featuring Irish whiskey and beers. The concept will also have a sports bar ambiance with 14 flat-screen televisions playing daily competitions, including soccer. Owners also hope the bar will be a night time destination in an otherwise quiet area of Point Loma.

Long Story Irish Pub aims to open at some point this March at 4204 Voltaire Street in San Diego's Point Loma/Ocean Beach area. For more information, follow the company's Instagram page
