The San Diego location of Las Vegas-based The Modern Vegan has permanently shuttered in North Park after less than 2 years in business. .
After more than a year of preparations, founder Gia Schultz opened the second location of The Modern Vegan in June 2019 within the 3,200 square-foot space at 4332 30th Street in San Diego's North Park. The restaurant featured an extensive American comfort food menu with around 170 different plant-based dishes.

The restaurant featured an extensive American comfort food menu with around 170 different plant-based dishes.
The original location of The Modern Vegan, which first opened in early 2018 near the University of Nevada campus in Las Vegas, remains in business. Ownership is also working on the opening of a vegan taco shop in Las Vegas called Taco Dive Bar.
