Acclaimed Steakhouse Chain Steak 48 To Open San Diego Location

March 21, 2021

Owned by the family that founded Los Angeles's iconic Mastro's Steakhouse, Steak 48 is a trendy steakhouse restaurant set to open its first San Diego location later this year.

Steak 48 is a family run, Scottsdale, AZ-based steakhouse concept founded by Dennis Mastro, his son's Jeffrey & Michael, and the family's unofficial "adopted" son Scotty Troilo, who began working at the family's original restaurant What's Your Beef in 1978. The Mastro family is most widely known for founding ritzy Los Angeles steakhouse chain Mastro's Restaurants, which was purchased by hospitality behemoth Landry's in 2013. In addition to Steak 48 - which currently has locations in Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Charlotte - the parent company Prime Steak Concepts also operates other high-end restaurants like Ocean 44, Dominick’s, and Steak 44.

The San Diego branch of Steak 48 will open by year's end in the 6,000 square-foot space that last housed Searsucker in Del Mar Highlands Town Center. After a multi-million dollar renovation of the unit, expect an elegant restaurant with a dark decor, burnt-orange booths and a sparkling glass-enclosed kitchen with a massive raw seafood display. The menu will be centered around USDA prime steaks, dry-aged steaks, fresh seafood, and classically inspired side dishes & appetizers. Each location also houses an onsite butcher shop helmed by a master butcher and a 3,000 bottle wine vault to compliment the full bar.

Steak 48 is anticipated to open by year's end at 12995 El Camino Real, Suite 21, within Del Mar Highlands Town Center in San Diego's Del Mar region. For more information, visit steak48.com.
