Five Oceans Fish Market To Bring Seafood From Around The Globe To San Diego's Carmel Valley

May 24, 2021

Five Oceans Fish Market will bring globally-procured seafood to San Diego's Carmel Valley when it opens within The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch this June.

From longtime restaurant industry insiders Brian Kelley & Steven Auerbach, Five Oceans Fish Market is a fish market and restaurant that will open in the space that last housed a branch of The Baked Bear in Carmel Valley. The market and restaurant will feature fresh fish and seafood sourced from all over the world, available for dine in and take out. Expect items like oysters on the half-shell from both coasts, New England Cherrystone clams, fresh local and Maine lobster, lobster rolls, fresh fish sandwiches, salads, soups, tacos, sashimi and poke bowls served in a variety of ways (Ahi, Bluefin, Salmon, Tako, Hamachi, Mango lobster & shrimp/scallops).

"While there's only one ocean, there are 5 ocean 'basins' (Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Artic)," explained Five Oceans Fish Market co-owner Brian Kelley. "Steven & I were inspired to develop this concept from our love of seafood. San Diego has a rich culture in the fish industry. At one time, San Diego was known as 'The Tuna Capital of the World' with two of the countries three biggest tuna canneries based along the San Diego Bay. As a result, San Diegans obviously acquired a taste for fish developing a deep food heritage centered around fish. For Five Oceans Fish Market, picture the Tokyo Fish Market meets a New England Clambake!"

In addition to a full seafood counter & market, Five Oceans Fish Market will offer patio dining for up to 40 patrons with local craft beer offerings from San Diego breweries and boutique wines imported from the South of France and the Italian Coast. Seafood will be displayed in large ice trays and the counter will be shaped in the form of the stern on a boat. The market will also have live lobster, crab and shrimp tanks. In addition to lunch and dinner offerings, the eatery will have a brunch menu with New York City bagels flown in from A&S Bagels in Long Island, NY, served with cream cheese and house-smoked lox. The menu will also include seafood towers comprised of lobsters, shrimp, oysters, clams, Jonah Crab claws, and other treats. as well as avocado toast and local ground coffee from San Diego's Zumbar Roasters.
