The owners of San Diego hotspots Whiskey Girl and The Double Deuce have taken over IB Public House in San Diego's South County city of Imperial Beach to open Jack's Fire Pit, a southern country-style bar and restaurant opening this summer.
"The Jack's Fire Pit concept was developed while The Double Deuce was shut down during Covid," explained co-founder David Schiffman. "The Double Deuce, since categorized under nightclub in Covid guidelines, was last on the list to re-open. I brought on Chef Abe Botello to help put my ideas to an actual menu, which he did. Having the Jack's Fire Pit food concept inside The Double Deuce allowed us to reopen earlier by being able to serve food with alcohol service. Once it opened, I was getting positive feedback on the menu, name and general concept. I began to seek out a space to make it a stand alone restaurant and bar in the San Diego area."
The Imperial Beach location of Jack's Fire Pit is being installed in the unit that housed IB Public House for the past 5 years. The design will feature a mix of murals and unique uses of everyday plywood and whiskey barrels. The front outdoor patio will feature seating around a fire pit with an open air vibe. The food menu will include southern-inspired appetizers, flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and tacos. The drinks will be simple and back to the basics, including the signature Jack & Dew cocktail featuring a mix of Jack Daniels and Mountain Dew (fun fact - Mountain Dew was originally formulated as a mixer for Jack Daniels).
Jack's Fire Pit is expected to open as early as late July at 995 Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach.
