Japanese Cream Puff Empire Beard Papa's To Open San Diego Location

July 26, 2021

An international Japanese chain with more than 400 locations, Beard Papa's will soon bring its world-renowned cream puffs to San Diego.

Originally founded in Osaka, Japan, by owner Yuji Hirota in 1999, Beard Papa's started as a small bakery and quickly grew to more than 400 locations, in 15 countries and territories, while gaining global recognition for their light and airy cream puffs. The Japanese dessert chain specializes in creating an eclectic array of cream puffs, offering a wide variety of customizable delights.

The new San Diego location will open later this year in the space previously occupied by Fashion Q clothing store in the heart of La Jolla Village. Like other branches, guests will be able to create their own puff pastry by choosing between eight cream puff shells - original, chocolate eclair, green tea eclair, strawberry eclair, honey butter eclair, Oreo cookie crumble eclair, dulce de leche eclair, and crispy almond. Patrons then get to choose between selection of cream custard filling flavors that range from traditional staples to seasonal favorites.  The menu also extends beyond just puff pastries with offerings such as cheesecake, chocolate fondant, and an exclusive blended beverages menu, as well as coffee and tea drinks.

Beard Papa's aims to open by this fall at 7880 Girard Avenue in San Diego's La Jolla. For more information, visit beardpapas.com
